Traditional Thai Massage
Stiffness, desk posture, and anyone who wants to be properly stretched out
Traditional Thai massage is closer to being moved than being rubbed. You stay dressed in loose cotton clothes, there is no oil, and you work on a firm mat rather than a table. Nida uses her hands, forearms, elbows, knees and feet to apply pressure along the sen lines, and guides you through a sequence of assisted stretches that you could not comfortably reach on your own.
It is the treatment she trained in and the one she has practised the longest. If you have only ever had an oil massage, this is a different experience: more active, more deliberate, and you tend to leave feeling taller than you arrived.
What happens
- You change into loose cotton trousers and a top. Nothing is removed.
- Nida starts at the feet and works up, following the sen lines with palms, thumbs and forearms.
- Pressure builds gradually. She checks in as she goes and adjusts to what your body will take that day.
- Assisted stretches through the hips, back and shoulders in the second half.
- Finish seated, with neck, shoulders and scalp.
